Edward Wesley Edmands
Edward got his early education in Saugus, Massachusetts, and at age 15 was working for a furniture store in nearby Lynn. Later he worked as an upholsterer and learned the carpet-laying trade, working with his older brother Arthur.
He lived at Breakheart Hill Farm when he was first married to his second wife, (Emma) Flora. Their first child, (Margaret) Lillian Edmands, was born on the farm in 1892. They soon moved to Vine Street in Saugus, just off Main Street, where they rented a small cottage whil a new home was being built for them on Main Street, next door to his brother Arthur. When daughter Mildred Florence started school, they were still living in Stoneham on Elm Street, with Emma's Aunt Susan Quimby (her father's sister). They stayed there for two years and then moved to a small farm on Montrose Avenue in Wakefield. They later lived on Lakesade and Walker Terrace before buying the land on Juniper Hill (21 Juniper Avenue) at the close of World War I.
Edward started the Boston Carpet Laying Company on Chardon Street in Boston in the late 1920s and continued until his retirement in 1932.
Edward was an elder sibling of Ernest Carl Edmands, 1884-1928 (our ancestor).
