Artemas and Margaret Edmands, 7th Cousins

Here is a chart showing the seventh-cousin relationship of Artemas Edmands, 1813-1896, and his wife, Margaret M. Wilson Edmands, 1811-1879 (our ancestors in Generation 7--that is, 7 generations back from the "leading-edge" generation of today's babies in our family).

Anyway, Margaret's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents (8 generations back), Robert Mansfield, 1594-1666 and Elizabeth Townsend Mansfield, 1596-1673, our ancestors in Generation 15, were the same as Artemas's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents (also 8 generations back). Margaret was descended from Robert and Elizabeth's second child, Andrew Mansfield, 1620-1683, and Artemas was descended from their fourth child, Joseph Mansfield I, <1628-1694.

Note 1:
A very careful and painstaking genealogist kinsperson, cousin (our cousin through Artemas Seymour Edmands and his eldest son, Arthur Seymour Edmands), has pointed to some documentation that challenge this line of descent through Ebenezer Burrill II (1703-1778) and Mary Mansfield Burrill (b. 1709), which I have derived through the Pane-Joyce Genealogy and other sources. Pat has stated: "Where I ran into conflict was when I compared your Burrills, from your site, and the American Silversmith site and what I had collected. I had combined two sources: Farmer's General Register and Lewis's History of Lynn, which both have Mary Mansfield, daughter of General Joseph Mansfield, who married Ebenezer Burrill, with a different set of children than your source has. Their son, John (b. 1726, d. 1793) married Anna Thompson (1729-1798) [and] had a son John (b. 1751, d. 1835), who married Ann Fuller. (I don't have their children.) I don't know which set of children is correct. If you got your set of children for Mary and Ebenezer Burrill from family sources [unfortunately, I did not], it might be more accurate. There appear to be a lot of John Burrills, so it would be hard to decide which one was the father of Esther, who married Lott Edmands." I certainly concede that my suppositions here are conjectural and need further investigation.

Note 2:
Thomas Mansfield I and Bethiah Poole Mansfield are, like Robert and Elizabeth Mansfield, common ancestors of spouses: They are the common ancestors of the son of Artemas Edmands and Margaret M. Wilson Edmands, Artemas Seymour Edmands, 1837-1920, who married his own third cousin once removed [and another Mansfield connection], Ella Josephine Mansfield, 1849-1923. Thomas and Bethiah are also common ancestors of Artemas and Margaret's eldest grandson from that match: Arthur Seymour Edmands, 1862-1951, who married daughter-in-law Ella's youngest sister [still another Mansfield connection], Edith G. Mansfield, 1865-1926, which would make this pair third cousin, twice removed.
